Gamblers, as well as all those looking for a little wager with lady luck, will surely find what they want in Gorenjska. In Slovenia gambling is inseparably linked to entertainment, thus its casinos also provide a wide assortment of diversions and amusements in addition to conventional gaming. And if you aspire to more, experience some of this region’s annual festivals and celebrations.

Casinos and gaming centres

The tradition of Alpine Slovenia's first casino, which opened beside Lake Bled back in 1927, has been passed to Casino Bled, located in the town centre; it offers, amongst other games, American roulette. Operated by the HIT group, Casino Corona and Casino Larix in Kranjska Gora follow the American model, and combine gaming with a great deal of entertainment.

Popular gaming centres can also be found at Lesce near Radovljica (Casino Tivoli) and in Kranj (Casino Cezar).

Entertainment and events

A great many entertaining events take place across the Gorenjska region during the summer moths. Among the most popular are Summer in Kranjska Gora, Bled Days with the traditional Bled Night, Kranj Night, the Škofja Loka Festival of Sport and Culture for Children and Youth, Family Days at Ribčev Laz beside Lake Bohinj.

In September, there is Farewell to Summer in Železniki and Cheery Autumn each November in Duplje. Listen to traditional local dance and folk music at Bled's Alpine Night – or visit the Avsenik Festival named after the legendary 'fathers' of such music in Begunje near Radovljica.

Open-air New Year's Eve celebrations are organised in the region’s larger towns.

Kranjska Gora's Vitranc Cup competition is accompanied by Q Max Party with the participation of local and international music stars.

The farewell to winter encompasses traditional Shrovetide carnivals whilst spring is marked by the May First Meet in Šobec (near Bled) as well as the traditional Oldtimer Parade in Naklo. Hrast Memorial – an international race of vintage cars over the old Ljubelj/Loibl Pass – is organised every second Sunday in September.
