Vintgar Gorge

A gorge through which flows the magnificent emerald Radovna River with its pools, waterfalls and rapids. Thereis a mighty, approximately 15-metre high Šum Waterfall, the highest river waterfall in Slovenia.

A 2km-long gorge and 40 metres deep in its most picturesque part. Paths for visitors lead to the central part; the main path runs along the bottom, while the side path runs on the margins. Natural attractions: a side gorge, a spacious rock cavity, called the Pokljuka Hole, a large natural bridge 24 metres above the bottom, narrow and rounded plains, a small natural bridge.


The picturesque gorge, through which runs the Tržiška Bistrica River, is a unique site to find remnants of  petrified  flora and fauna. As well as a walk through the gorge, you can visit the collection of rocks in the Exhibition and Educational Centre in the village of Dolina and the  printing works of the ‘Kokrški odred’ commando.
