Join the cheering fans and other enthusiasts at Bled’s rowing regattas and the national rowing championships, or even the World Rowing Championship due to take place in Bled in 2011. Kranjska Gora boasts the annual Vitranc Cup, an event in the world alpine ski championship, and there is also the ski flying (jump) competitions at nearby Planica. Further to this there are biathlon competitions on Pokljuka, the Telemark world championship event on Kobla, the international mountain bike descent in Kranjska Gora, as well as ice hockey games and figure skating competitions at Jesenice. Bled, meanwhile, hosts the annual Triglav Trophy figure skating competition, and the Rudi Hiti summer ice hockey league.
You can also become a competitor in any one of a number of traditional mountain runs, cycling contests, hiking competitions as well as other events, including summer marathons and the Rikli Sports Days at Bled; kayaking and mountain marathons, or the Man of Steel Triathlon in Bohinj; the most demanding cycle event is Juriš na Vršič – a race to the top of the Vršič Pass commencing from Kranjska Gora; there is also the Kranjskogorska 10ka – a 10 km running and rollerblading event from Kranjska Gora to Rateče and back. An international skike competition, open to amateurs and professionals alike, is organised annually in Tržič.
